No sound whatsoever, until physical reboot

Thought I would post this here, not sure if I should post report it in one of the github repos.

But, one day I went to use one of the zones and discovered no sound would come out at all.

I tried the following:

  • Reset Source to blank, then set to a new source
  • Tried AirPlay, Spotify, and internet radio
  • Added, unadded, then re-added a zone to the source
  • Muted and unmuted the zones in the source
  • Settings → Configuration and Updates → Reset hardware and reset pi
  • Updated from 0.2.0 → 0.2.1
  • Still wouldn’t play audio, so I shut it down in settings

Ended up going downstairs and unplugged it physically and plugging it back in.

Once physically rebooted, it seems to be fine. Wanted to share this

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had an issue, and sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. Has this issue happened just the once or has it happened again?

  • Reset Source to blank, then set to a new source

AmpliPi’s Sources are different from Streams so I want to be sure we’re talking about the same things. Were you using the AmpliPi’s web interface, and did you pick one of the tabs (Sources) and change the Stream to blank then select a new Stream? You mentioned trying AirPlay, Spotify, and Internet radio. Those are what we refer to as streams.

If this happens again could you post the AmpliPi’s logs? There is a link at the bottom of the webpage, or assuming your AmpliPi’s hostname is still the default of ‘amplipi’ this is the same link: http://amplipi.local/entries

Hey @Lohrer sorry for the delay as well here. This has only happened once to me.

Yes, I meant stream in that line. I used the web interface to choose a tab/source and selected a blank stream for that source, then tried setting it to a new stream.

Will try to share if it happens again, thankfully its been good for the past month.
