Spotify Streams Losing Audio

I usually set 2 different Spotify Stream up on the stable 2.1 software and didn’t have issues switching between the two at will for about 3 months. I updated to the latest Beta.2 on Monday and today ran into an issue where if I switched between those two off of the same device/account it would mute all of my speakers from there on no matter what I did until I did a factory reset and rebuild all of my config from scratch. If I uploaded my config, it would not work.

According to the debug and the screen on the controller everything was “working fine” but no audio was playing.

I’ve been having Spotify issues as well. I’m about to be out of town for a couple weeks but once I got back was going to ask if there are some specific steps for things to check to help with the troubleshooting to figure out the root cause of the failures.

In my situation, I’m seeing the AmpliPi as a Spotify speaker device but once I select it, my Spotify seems to connect for a quick second and then drops it right away.

For the 0.3.0 beta issues can you share your config and the logs?

Logs can be found from the setting->about page. You should be able to download the config from settings as well.

Feel free to include those in a PM or email if it makes more sense.

@mkomar what version of the software are you running? I’ve seen this happen every once in awhile but restarting the Spotify stream fixes it. We need to be able to detect that failure case to restart it automatically but haven’t found a reliable wayto do that yet.

I’ve been running different versions … 0.2.1, 0.2.1-spotify update, and the two 0.3.0 beta versions I’ve seen, Some have been more stable than others but none have been rock solid. At the moment, it’s exhibiting a specific problematic behavior and is running the base 0.2.1.

I don’t think it makes sense to troubleshoot the older versions, so maybe I’ll move to the latest beta and stick to that and we can troubleshoot with that as the base platform?

That way we aren’t trying to fight with already squashed bugs.

I am out of town but when I get back I will make it break again and then send you the logs. I made it work/fixed it so that the family could use it while I’m away.

I just saw the log you posted. I understand now why you were having audio problems:

Oct 15 16:33:23 amplipi authbind[586]: pretending to connect to loopback (unavailable)

I have seen this a couple of times before, what fixed it was a restart. This should not be a recurring thing though. Please try restarting once and let us know if that fixes this.
