So I have been experimenting with a new way of organising things to try and make it easier for the rest of the household to manage the music throughout the house.
I am running an LMS server with a collection of local music stored on my NAS and the Spotty plugin for Spotify streaming (via LMS).
I have 3 main zones in my house, with 6 AmpliPi zones. The living area, which includes 4 AmpliPI zones, and the bathroom and ensuite (1 AmpliPi zone each)…
So I have created 3 LMS client streams in AmpliPi and the idea is to almost lock each zone(s) to the corresponding LMS client stream, and then control everything via LMS.
This works for a while but then after a day or so I am finding things are getting very confused in the AmpliPi.
When I un-mute the ensuite zone, I am hearing the audio from the Living LMS client, even though in the AmpliPi UI it is clearly showing it should be playing “Brian FM”. If I pause the LMS client for the “Living” stream, the ensuite audio pauses.
It seems to have gotten confused about what LMS stream it is actually playing on the AmpliPi zone.
I’ve had something similar happen on my unit at home but haven’t been able to track it down yet since it occurs so infrequently. Have you noticed anything consistent about this issue?
Not really - but it is only resolvable by a reboot of the AmpliPi. I have tried restarting streams, removing and re-adding streams, nothing seems to help.
I am seeing it pretty regularly, to the point where the system is not really useable as a lot of the times I go to listen to something I hear the wrong thing and am unable to resolve it without a full reboot.
Does resetting (Settings → Configuration → Hardware Reset) the AmpliPi happen to fix it? If it does, that would imply that the software and firmware configuration are getting out of sync.
I’ll try that next time and report back.

I just checked and sure enough they were out of sync. Hitting Hardware Reset
resolved the issue!
Thanks! I’ll start looking into what could be causing this.

I have added a step to my nightly NodeRED flow so it now calls /api/reset
, before resetting each stream.
I’m sure you already know this but an api/reset
mutes all of the zones as well to avoid starting up the system and waking someone up at 3am.
