A few months ago, I noticed a vertical line on the touchscreen display. Annoying, but I didn’t think too much about it as it was still usable. I hoped it was a software issue and would go away.
Fast forward to today and there are many more lines. The right side is almost completely covered with them. Reboots and factory resets didn’t help (not that I thought it would, but I’m lazy). Digging it out, unhooking everything, and taking it apart to wiggle wires is the logical next step, but I figured I would check here first.
Has anybody here seen this before? Thoughts on likely causes or fixes? Anything to watch out for if I open it up?
Hey @TheCraiggers -
That’s odd - I think we have yet to see any issues with the LCD displays. The good news is it is a fairly straightforward replacement. You can source the display from a number of places, the easiest of which is probably amazon:
You want the 2.8" TFT LCD display. To replace it on the AmpliPi, you want to first remove the front panel. There are 4 1/4 nuts that attach the front panel to the rest of the case. First remove those and then you can remove the front panel. Once you have the front panel out, there are 4 screws and some washers that hold the LCD in place. Be sure reinstall the washes in the same order as removed. The spacing between the LCD and front panel needs to be maintained for it to function properly.
