AmpliPi NSPanel WIFI password and feature request

First off I received my AmpliPI and I am very excited about upgrading my home audio system. Great job on the hardware! I have many of the outdated knob style audio controls and I am looking forward to replacing them with modern looking HMIs.

I was able to flash the AmpliPi firmware onto the NSPanel relatively easily however there seems to be a character limit on the WIFI password field, so I was not able to join the panel to my wireless network. There are obvious work arounds so no big deal.

The feature I would most like to see is to be able to have a screen saver / blanking of the screen as an option. I have two of the volume controls in my bedroom and the displays are quite bright.

Many thanks and I really looking forward to see the evolution of AmpliPi

Thanks for the feedback!

We’ve been thinking about the display dimming functionality for a while, but haven’t added an issue for it until now.

I managed to increase the character limit on the on-screen keyboard though, so that change will be in the next release. Unfortunately the text wraps around at around ~48 characters or so. Hopefully no one ever has to type in a 63 character wifi password on that keyboard :grimacing:

I’ll post again when the release is out.

Yeah, that keyboard… painful lol. Thank you so much!

The release it out, let me know what you think!

There is a slider for timeout, active brightness and inactive brightness. After the display isn’t touched for the timeout period, the display will transition from active brightness to inactive brightness smoothly over ~8 seconds. You can set the inactive brightness to zero and it will completely turn off the screen too, and touching again will take you to the home page.

Amazing! Thank you so much for the quick turnaround. Was able to update to the latest version and it fixed the wifi password issue.

With the screen blanking I can now install all my AmpliPI screens all over the house!

Thank you!
