I feel like I’ve posted in this area a bit and haven’t gotten any responses. Is there any development being done in this arena?
Howdy matchmee~
Our HomeAssistant integration was created and has so far mostly been supported as a community effort. However, we’ve roadmapped putting developer hours into making it an officially supported robust plugin in our 0.5 release. We anticipate beginning work on 0.5 features in a quarter or two. If you find your needs aren’t met in the meantime, we’d definitely welcome any and all contributions here.
We really appreciate your feedback and patience on this. This area is not dead so much as our next upcoming version focuses on improving our software delivery. We’re setting up the framework to migrate to a 64 bit OS for better streaming service support (Plexamp, Spotify, and more), so stay tuned for these updates too
Heck yeah! Let me know how I can help in any way - I’m always down to test and discuss functionality. I’m not a hardcore coder or anything but I know enough to be dangerous, and am a big HomeAssistant user for many years so would definitely be willing to help in that layout. I’ve tried reaching out to the people who built the current HACS offering, but have not heard back from them at all so that’s why I’ve been trying to see if anyone has been around.
The current integration works okay, but still uses Inputs 1…4, which don’t make any sense since that concept went away with version 0.3 and it is actually difficult to control which stream plays on which input from the AmpliPi UI. It’s actually easier to do that from HA directly…
Let me know how I can help!
I agree wholeheartedly. Ultimately, the HA groups area is a bit buggy/doesn’t work either. I find the best results just adding each zone individually. I ultimately use HA to expose it to Apple Homekit - so to me I would love it if the end result gave me a zone or group in designated areas that acted more like my receiver or tv where I can select which input I want it on, and then mute/unmute it. I could provide photos someday if needed.
I also agree on the new AmpliPi UI - I find myself giving up and going in to HA to make changes faster.
