Disconnected Zones and Lumin Streamers

Just got this question via email where he asked about disconnected zones and roon integration.

Hi Jason,

I have not connected my amplipi amp yet as two sets of speakers are on my deck and there is still snow so I didn’t want to mess up the initial setup. I might need some technical support as I am connecting 4 sets of speakers in different areas and trying to integrate this in roon with two other endpoints. All endpoints are driven by two lumin streamers that can play in roon or just through the lumin app. I can initially set the speaker volume on all four zones and control all with roon or if needed , control each individually with the amplifi app. Is that correct.? Once this is set-up, is there any issue with removing the deck speakers in the winter? If this works, It solves alot of issues in my multi room system. I have a high end system in my living room that I can isolate or connect in a group with other endpoints if I am streaming throughout my house; I never play different files in any one endpoint as my house is too open.

I hope you are doing well as this type of product really fills a hole in audio. Sonos and even Bluesound are not that good.

Thanks!

It sounds like you are planning on connecting your Lumin network audio streamers to the RCA inputs of AmpliPi and using AmpliPi to route them from there. Here are my suggestions for connecting your setup:

As for the deck speakers that are removed in the winter, I would suggest disabling their zones in the AmpliPi webapp/app settings by navigating to :gear:ZonesZone X and checking the Disabled checkbox. This will disable their output and remove their volume controls by the app. You will probably want to do this for your unused zones as well.

As for setting up the audio, in the app go to source “tab” 1 and add the zones that you would like to connect to the first Lumin streamer, and do the same in source “Tab” 2 for the second Lumin streamer.
