Android, cannot login on welcome screen

Hi

What is expected with this screen? I have tried the IP address with IP and http://ip. However, the amplipi is not found. However, it works without problems via the web interface. Is only a certain subnet scanned?

I use the newest amplipi release 0.3.4

Hey Andy!

It’s odd that both scanning and direct connect aren’t working if you’re on the same network as your AmpliPi / AmpliPro unit. Do you have some sort of specific network configuration? It’s possible that a well-secured network didn’t like being scanned and may need to have the whitelist updated.

If you don’t have some sort of segmented security network and you are connected to the same network, I’d suggest restarting both your phone and the unit and potentially even uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile app and trying again.

If these steps don’t work, let us know what version of Android you’re on and we’ll see if there isn’t some weird behavior between that environment and the app itself as well.

Also just for clarification:
You said that the web interface works, did you test the web interface working on your phone or was it a separate device?

If the web interface works on your phone’s browser but not in the app, that’s a bug; If it doesn’t work on either then that’s something to do with your network

It works on the same phone over a webbrowser.
There is no special security in the network and i’m connected to the same one.
The only thing is the ip range is from 192.168.123 .0 - 192.168.123.254.

That’s odd. What version of Android are you using?

@klay2000 do you have any ideas what could be going wrong here?

It’s an OPPO CPH2207 (Find X3 Neo 5G) with Android 13.
I’ll try with another phone in the next days.

I suppose it could be something related to permissions, if that’s the case though I’d expect everyone in the office to have the same issue. I’ll take a look at it Monday and report back my findings.

I have now also tested it on a samsung galaxy s20+ with android 13. Doesn’t work either.

On a Iphone SE with IOS 17.4.1 I was able to connect.
I had to type in the IP, tried to connect (hit several times the connect button but nothing happened) then I hit the refresh button and it was connected.

Hey there, sorry for the delay in replying! I looked into this on Monday and didn’t get a chance to reply until today. We couldn’t reproduce the issue on any of the devices around our office, but the fact it worked on an IOS device is interesting. The IOS app has slightly different logic for automatically detecting an AmpliPi which gives me some ideas as to what might be going wrong. Did the connect button change color after you typed the IP address in on the Iphone or did it remain grayed out?
