When opening the amplipi app on my mobile í am always confronted with this screen.
Is there a simple way for me to either
(1) Ensure the autodiscovery of the device on my localdomain just works?
(2) Have the app (cookies?) remember the last entry the next time it gets launched?
Also. The ux of this screen seems to keep fighting with my personal natural expectations: I keep finding myself entering the hostname and then hitting the refresh button (which actually functions as a cancel)
This might be just me, but in my defense: the connect button never grabs my natural attention: greyed out and to the left (feels like back, not progress/continuation)
So maybe that button could light up to green when the hostname is filled in. And be placed on the right?
Sorry you had this issue, but thanks for the UI feedback! I’ve been personally spearheading our UI side for a few weeks, every bit of feedback helps guide where to spend our time. I’ve made a pair of issues relating to these posts that are linked here:
Do you know what underlying issue you were having that the autodiscovery didn’t work? Do you have a specialized network configuration of some sort, a specific subnet or somesuch that we should look at testing for?
Apologies, I’ve just been informed that the autodiscovery feature was disabled on android due to the library we were originally using on android being discontinued, we have an issue for that here
If you are not using an android device, let me know what steps we can use to replicate your issue; otherwise know that we’re already on it.
I do like the issues you extracted from this exchange
and yes I have my own network domain and switch setup, so I am not even hoping that much on autodiscovery (allthough I could ensure dhcp is adding my local domain to the search list so a dns lookup for ‘amplipi’ would yield the IP but I am not sure if that would be enough of a common / useful strategy ?)
