I was planning on installing the AmpliPi system on my under construction home but decided not to do it. It was a personal decision since this is an awesome system and I definitely will recommend it to my friends… but I do have an extremely high quality hifi system, so this would have very little use
Anyway, I will sell everything for $1500 + Shipping, please reply if you are interested.
PS: The high power expander unit is a custom extension Micro Nova did for me - thank you so much Jason!
Could you discuss with me some of your decision making? I’m planning on either using AmpliPi or a different system as well and been wondering how it would work best.
Not sure what you want to know… AmpliPi is the best thing you can buy for price/quality, nothing else even compares. The reasons for me to sell is my decision not to add full-home audio to my under construction home… I just hope I do not regret it in the future.
Ahhhh, okay that makes more sense. I was just wondering why you would do whole home audio and NOT use AmpliPi as in my research I kind of feel the same as you. I think particularly my ties to smart home automation as well there’s not much better. What did you have done to the extender to make it custom? How did you like the speakers you were looking at? I’m also trying to make decisions on speakers at the moment.
The expander uses higher-power amps (ST TDA7498E) that are rated for 160W per channel @10% THD (we haven’t tested the final design for specs yet but I suspect we’ll see ~125W <0.1% THD+N @4Ohm). We also doubled the power supply to 700W. We are hoping to put up the high-power option for sale on our site in the future but have a few other projects to worth through first before we can get back to finalizing this.
So basically it’s a standard AmpliPi expander but you can turn the volume up more
